The
2016 Olympics are right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me,
you’re excited! Despite all the troublesome reports that have preceded the
event, I’m confident it’ll live up to expectations. As always, there are a vast
number of events in which we’ll be cheering for our nation’s heroes. Everything's better with friends, so we often get together and hold viewing parties
for the occasion. but there are a few essentials that are needed to do this
properly!
Excellent TV
It all starts with the TV you’re watching it on. You don’t all
want to be crowded around a small television where you can barely see what’s
going on! Use this opportunity to spend some funds and buy a television you can
be proud of. The Olympics only comes around every four years after all! A good
sound system will make that experience even better if you can afford it. Look
for a 5.1 or a 7.1 surroundsystem to really get the most of your viewing experience.
Munchies!
Your
house needs to be stocked with munchies as far as the eye can see! We’re
talking chips, dip, chocolate and much more. The Olympics runs for almost an
entire month, so you might need to invest some money into this. Don’t forget to
pick up some drinks, too. You want a good supply of soda, along with lots of
water to keep yourselves hydrated. For the extra-special occasions, you could
even pick up a luxurious treat like Kikori Japanese Whiskey. Obviously; consume this sensibly and in
moderation.
Competitions
The
Olympics lends itself nicely to the spirit of friendly competition. You could
hold mini-contests surrounding each event and the winners you each pick. From
here, the potential is practically unlimited. Why not hold mini-bets, with the
winner getting treated to a free meal by the rest of the group, for example? Go
wild with your imagination and find new ways to enjoy the event even further.
Flags!
It’s
not a true Olympic party unless you’re going to go all out with your decorative
skills. Of course, you need the flag of the home nation in your home, but why
not extend that idea to every country? It’s sure to impress your friends, as
well as anyone else who comes to visit your home during the Olympics. Considering it doesn’t start for another few weeks, it’s a
good way to satisfy your Olympics craving, too!
National
Pride
On
those days when the good ole’ USA takes center stage, everyone needs some
national pride. Sure, we love to cheer for every country, but this is our home,
and everyone unites to support our athletes. There’s no room for negativity
here. We rarely get a chance to support the USA in the Olympics, so take this
chance to cheer loud and proud for them. Hopefully, success will follow.
It’s
only a few short weeks until the Olympics finally get underway. It has been a
long road since London 2012, but we’re almost there.
