One of the many things I love about living in Cagayan de Oro is the fact that it's the gateway to many great places in Northern Mindanao, particularly Bukidnon. It's home to many tourist destinations and the famous Del Monte Pineapple Plantation.
I've been to several parts of Bukidnon a lot of times already, but I usually just stay overnight and don't mind the hassle of traveling since it's roughly an hour or two away from CDO by private car. That's why in my recent trip to Bukidnon, I made sure to maximize my stay for a little weekend getaway at Hotel de Susana & Resort. I heard so many good things about it so I made sure to share it with some good friends. My quick stay at Hotel de Susana had one of those rare moments wherein I didn't want to leave. I promised myself to go back there for a longer stay!

How to get there?
If you're starting point is from Cagayan de Oro City, you take a bus at the Agora Bus Terminal bound to Bukidnon via Maramag, Valencia, or Davao. I suggest you ride the bus that will directly stop at Valencia. I was with my friend, Em Cortez of ladysoda.com, so we decided to take the Super Five bus bound for Maramag and paid 165 pesos each for the ticket. Just tell the driver to drop you off at Roadhouse Cafe, since the resort is just across the restaurant. Once you get there, you will see a sign leading to the hotel. If you booked a service to pick you up at the terminal, then just wait for the bus to make a stop at Valencia's Bus Terminal.

We arrived just in time for lunch, so we had enough time to fuel up before checking-in at 2PM. We were greeted by our other friends who already arrived earlier than us. Technically, we only had one full day to experience what the resort has to offer. Nevertheless, Hotel de Susana did not only meet my expectations, it exceeded them. This is why I'm sharing a short list of 5 reasons why you should book a weekend getaway at Hotel de Susana and Resort!
1. The Place is Huge– The moment you step in, you'll notice the wide space on the lobby. After doing a little tour, I just found out the hotel has more than 3 function rooms that can cater a big crowd. No wonder a lot of special occasions were held there. Perfect place to have a debut, wedding reception, JS Prom, etc.
2. Heavenly Food– One of the things I will never forget about our short stay is the FOOD. Before we actually had lunch, we were served with some appetizers and coolers. Luckily, we were able to try one of their special "kinamot" platters (boodle). You can check out their Fb page for more details about that offer.
3. Wide Swimming Pool– There are 3 wide pools available and perfect for the whole family! There's one for the kids, secondly is the average pool for both adults and kids, and lastly an Olympic-size swimming pool. My personal fave is the last one! I just love the clean and blue water of their pool!
4. Pick any spot inside the hotel and you will find different furnitures– You can read a book, work on your laptop, or just chill in one of the many pieces of furniture in the lobby area with their fast WiFi connection. There are also spaces available near the pool area.
5. I had the best sleep– I'm not even kidding when I say that their bed is so cozy! I had a hard time waking up early in the morning because I slept like a baby. The bathroom is squeaky clean and the room is tidy!
